Maseru District – Population: 477,599
Maseru is the most well endowed district as far as health personnel and facilities are concerned, this is true only for the urban parts of the district. The national referral hospital which in the past also doubled as a district hospital is situated in Maseru. The two specialised Hospitals, Mohlomi Mental and Bots`belo Leprosy are also based in Maseru. Four other hospitals are based on Maseru District: Scott Hospital, Morija; St Joseph Hospital, Roma; Maseru Private Hospital; Makoanyane Military Hospital. Maseru also has two filter clinics: Qoaling and Ha Mabote and 47 Health Centres. 70% of the private practitioners in the country are situated in Maseru. Rural parts of Maseru also have other providers including Red Cross and Blue Cross

Berea District – Population: 300,557
Berea is one of the pilot districts for the decentralisation initiative under the Health Sector Reform Programme. The district has two hospitals, Maluti Adventist Hospital and Berea Government Hospital. The total number of health centres in this district is 12, while the number of private practitioners is 4. Leribe District – Population: 362,339
Leribe has two hospitals, Motebang Government Hospital and `Mmamohau Hospital. Leribe being situated along the route leading to the Katse dam, benefited from injection of various resources including construction of two Clinics at Ha Lejone and Mphorosoane Clinics; a trauma unit at Motebang Hospital. These initiatives significantly improved geographic access for the population in this district. The number of health centres in Leribe is 30, one filter clinic was constructed in Maputsoe while there are 5 private practitioners in the district.

Buthe Buthe District – Population: 126,948
Butha Buthe has two hospitals Butha Buthe Government Hospital and Seboche Hospital. The district has 10Health Centres and 3 private practitioners.

Mokhotlong District – Population: 89,705
Mokhotlong has one Government Hospital, 10 Health Centres, one is serviced by the LFDS. There is 1 private practitioner in this district.

Qacha’s Nek District – Population: 80,323
Qacha’s Nek has two hospitals: Machabeng Government Hospital and Tebellong Hospital. The district has 12 health centres, 2 serviced by LFDS and 1 private practitioner.

Thaba Tseka – Population: 133,680
Thaba Tseka is one of the decentralisation pilot districts. The district has two CHAL hospitals, St James and Paray and no government hospital, 20, health centres with 5 serviced by LFDS and 3 private practitioners. The government has established a Health division which oversees health matters in the district in 2004/05 the budget for the Thaba Tseka Health Division was M3,382,830. The health division gets technical support from the two CHAL hospitals. See decentralisation for more details

Quthing District – Population: 140,641
Quthing has one government hospital, Nt`shekhe Hospital, 9 health centres and 1 private practitioner.

Mohale’s Hoek District – Population: 206,842
Mohale’s Hoek is one of the pilot districts for decentralisation within the Ministry. The district has one Government Hospital, 12 health centres with 1 serviced by LFDS and 3 private practitioners. See decentralisation for more details

Mafeteng District – Population: 238,946
Mafeteng has one government hospital, 19 health centres and 3 private practitioners
